Historical Legacy Series
Dominating the rock landscape in the 80s - between the Heavy Metal of the seventies and the Glam Rock of the 90s - was the reign of the Hair Band, a lasting cultural phenomenon. Hair Bands were defined by their flamboyance: glam, big hair and attitude, hedonism, rebellion, anthemic choruses, soaring guitar solos, and just plain fun.
No ensemble better represents the Hair Band than Poison Dollys, formed on Long Island in 1981 by an all-girl group of 19-year-olds: Amy Brammer (Roulette), Mef Manning, Gina Stile, and Gail Kenny. After developing their sound in the grungy rock joints of LI, word of their exceptional live show quickly spread to NYC. It was there that they came to the attention of Invasion Group who released their debut album Poison Dollys (1985) on Invasion Records (Jem).
The album caught the attention of their male rock contemporaries, and they soon found themselves touring nationally with Aerosmith, Nazareth, Motorhead, Foghat, and more. Poison Dollys were the first independent band to appear on the cover of Kerrang, the world's premier metal/punk/hardcore/rock music publication.
A legend in their genre, Poison Dollys are presently revived at Invasion Merch by Germany’s champion rock record label, Bad Reputation. Invasion Merch offers this compilation of every recording by the Poison Dollys, including their 1985 Invasion release and previously unreleased tracks.
